What is G4 and G7?

Unlike the G7, where the common denominator of the members is related to the economy and long-term political goals, the G4’s primary aim is to reform the Security Council. Each of these four countries have figured among the elected non-permanent members of the council since the UN’s establishment. The Group of Four (G4) is a group of major emerging and developed countries that have come together to push for reforms in the United Nations Security Council and seek permanent membership. Formation: The G4 was formed in 2005 to promote UNSC reforms. Members: India, Brazil, Germany, and Japan.
